Overlanders are ditching flimsy chairs for the Slouch Couch , a durable, two-person inflatable that’s comfy in 90 seconds.

When you think of outdoor gear that needed an upgrade, camping chairs probably weren’t at the top of the list. But for Nick, founder of Slouch Couch, that was exactly the problem.
“Camping chairs suck,” he said matter-of-factly. “They’re flimsy, awkward to carry, and never actually comfortable. We figured it was time someone built something better.”
That “something better” turned out to be the Slouch Couch—a premium, inflatable seat that packs down to the size of a camping chair but inflates into a full-sized, two-person couch in 90 seconds flat. Built from outdoor-grade fabrics and a rechargeable built-in pump, it’s designed for real adventures, not backyard gimmicks.
From RVs to Reinventing Relaxation
Before launching Slouch Couch , Nick spent years helping other brands scale in the outdoor industry.. Along the way, he noticed something interesting: the market was full of flashy marketing and cheap gear.
At one trade show, he ordered a few imported inflatable couches for an event activation—and they garnered more interest than the branded products they were meant to be selling. But inflatable couches always faced the same complaint: they didn’t last.
“I figured, these things suck—we can make something better,” Nick said. “So we developed something efficient, good-looking, and fun.”
By June 2024, Slouch Couch was live. Within weeks, the brand was taking off faster than expected.
The First Adopters: Overlanders
Nick assumed Slouch Couch would attract an even split of men and women—families heading to soccer games, beach days, or tailgates. But the first audience to fall in love with it wasn’t parents; it was overlanders.
“Those guys are early adopters,” Nick said. “They love cool gear that actually works, and they’re not afraid to be the first ones to try something new.”
Overlanding—essentially off-grid, vehicle-based camping—is a booming subculture where every square inch of space and every piece of gear matters. For a crowd that prizes function and design, a lightweight, durable, and easy-to-pack couch was a welcome surprise.
Flat to Fluffy in 90 Seconds
Slouch Couch’s biggest selling point is speed and simplicity. “Flat to fluffy in 90 seconds,” Nick said. “Flip a switch, and you’re done.”
Each couch supports up to 800 pounds, weighs around 16 pounds packed, and comes ready for anything from tailgates to campgrounds to ski lodges. “We wanted it to be something you can use anywhere,” Nick said. “Overland, beach, BBQ, ski hill—it’s built to chill anywhere.”
Built to Last—Not Pop After a Weekend
Slouch Couch isn’t the first inflatable couch on the market—but it might be the first one worth keeping.
“Inflatable couches aren’t new,” Nick admitted. “They’ve just been cheap and flimsy. We’re building with outdoor-grade materials——versus the old Oxford-cloth, pop-after-a-weekend stuff. Our hurdle is showing people we made an existing idea better.”
What’s Next for Slouch Couch
The brand launched with two colors, and five or six new ones are coming by year’s end. Nick also teased new size variants—both larger and smaller—as well as accessories under a pending utility patent.
There’s even talk of team-branded versions in time for next year’s tailgating season. “We’ve got some fun things in the pipeline,” Nick said. “By next summer, I want to see Slouch Couches decked out in people’s favorite team colors.”
Comfort, Upgraded
At its core, Slouch Couch isn’t trying to invent a new category—it’s upgrading an overlooked one.
With a clear vision, a product that actually delivers, and a founder who’s built companies before, it’s easy to see why overlanders—and everyone else—are trading in their chairs for a Slouch Couch.
